From idea
to practice.
At eleven58, I led six data and software engineers developing the intelligence behind a recycling sorter. The venture combined image recognition with a physical bin designed to identify and sort recyclable materials.
From images to a working system
Our object-detection work used more than 10,000 proprietary images of recyclable materials. The task was part of a wider MVP: the software needed to connect with the mechanical system being developed around it.
My contribution
I led the data and software team and worked with mechanical engineers and executives to connect the machine-learning work with the product’s engineering and business priorities.
Team recognition
eleven58 placed fourth in Boston University’s 2024 Climate Innovation Challenge and received a $1,000 team prize. The challenge brought student teams together around practical responses to climate problems in Boston.
